PURE 1337NESS

Just took a look at the left bar of the blog and realized that "1337 replays" thread is pretty rusty. I'd lie if I say that I haven't watched any replays since the last replay in that thread was posted, but the number of replays I've watched and the amount of 1337tness I saw was pretty small. Hopefully, that is going to change.

I wish to revive this old thread that hasn't been updated since May last year. So much about my activity and my interest in other people's games. But I can justify this absence of interest. Ever since summer started, I was barely online and since August last year till month ago I went on battle.net 3-4 times just to keep clan in the safe zone.

The whole point around 1337 replays is to put them in one place and save them from oblivion. There are many games on Replayers which are X times better than top/ rotw replays but they never saw the light of the day and the reasons for that are many. The most interesting thing is that it is not the admins fault. Unlike site members, admins adapt to members taste, and with time they create standards (this adaptation procedure happens in good community websites, not lairs where self-called Elder trolls write in blood color letters and spread terror among minions).

On Replayers, I saw several brave replay approver attempts in the past with games which standards were questionable. The bad thing that there are whiny bitches and trolls on site who will come in top replay thread and write something like: boring parts, low micro, mass creep, no comeback etc. The bottom line is that you can't satisfy everyone's needs and because of that you pick the safest options for your top/ rotw replays. These are names that can't play bad game, and if they somehow manage to play it badly, that replay usually still gets approved as top. And now, when some whiny troll comes and writes one of his favorite troll sentences, the rest of community will eat him alive because they will see him as attention whore who spams the replay of players who can beat him with left foot. That's just how it goes.

Obviously, I am against all of this. I'd rather have several troll-donkeys spamming the replay that got topped because of his special qualities than missing that replay in the left side of website. Plus, I seriously don't feel like watching another S_A_I_B_O_T's game on Lost Temple after playing 1k games against him. Player like him should make a replay pack from time to time to satisfy the fans, tho.

I don't want to see gaming perfection, great macro multitasking and all done by the book. I want 1337ness, the type of the game that players don't do usually because in this type of games are combined luck, intellect, rough talent for survival and logic. Or the absence of all mentioned and when this happens it is even cooler to watch.

That's why I am reviving this great thread. Replays from 2012 will go in archive. Don't worry! I am not removing in some dark corner, they will be in the same place, I will just make some room for new stuff.
