LONE WOLF

Few days ago, in the "Latest gossip" gadget, you were able to see that Replayers is about to host an event that is related to loneliness and wolves. I wrote that because I wanted to mask the actual event name so you neebs wouldn't guess what it is going to be about.
Before I start expressing my opinions about Lone Wolf, take a look at great video that Rocafella made for this event. I have to say that it comforts me that he decided to pick these nasty moves mostly from the games I played but obviously this fella has the taste. Check out the amazing video below.

Don't know about you but it looked and sounded pretty emotional for me. Can't believe it is the first or the second video he made. In one word - masterpiece.

And it shouldn't be any less for this great event that Replayers staff decided to host. The idea is awesome and it is backed up with decent prize poll for the absolute winner. While other wanna-have-prize-too hosts are offering fake wallets with big "MADE IN CHINA" tags Replayers is paying in cash.

The most important thing is that this is not a closed invitational tournament in which 10 so called Reign of Chaos pros are going to battle on weirdo maps in their ultra boring Night elf mirrors. Oh excuse me! They do indeed pick Random in their first game to show off a bit but once it becomes "hard" and "important" they suddenly pick the circle type map such as Secret Valley or Scorched Basin or some badly edited TFT map and chose Night elf. Then their opponent, not being sure of his own skills and capabilities or getting extra frustrated, says "UP YOURS NOOB! I CALL THAT!" and goes for Night elf as well. And that is how we get ultra "skilled" and "entertaining" replays. Undeniable arguments on the screenshot below.

ENTERTAINING REPLAYS
Trolls who are reading this will probably say: "FU Dinker that is only 5 games in that tour!" Oh really? Take a look at the next screenshot in which you will see player Carmack, who plays Human race in 99.99% of his games, picking Night elf against his opponent not because he wants to pick it but because he has no choice. It is either play your non-elf race and die while being frustrated or pick an Elf and join the crew.

WTF IS THIS HU DOING HERE?!
Just disgusting. But more about these "pro" events and these "extremely balanced" maps in of my next articles. Lets go back to the happy subject - Lone Wolf.

If you haven't read the complete info about this ladder competition click here. As you can see, the beauty of this event is that everyone can participate. Few requirements tho. You have to put the pre-ordered tag in front of your name, don't share your account and don't cheat. Pretty fair and simple.

I still have to share my opinion about the rules that should be modified or added in order to get a event and to improve the quality of the ladder itself. In one of my previous posts I wrote about players who skipped their Warcraft 3 education when they started to play tournaments before having any experience in ladder.

Ladder is very important and very educational. Everyone who has any intention in becoming any good in this game can't afford himself a luxury of not playing ladder at all. That is why I am so happy to see that ladder is going to be more active than it used to be and all of that thanks to Lone Wolf event.

Still, only 4 weeks is too short. I would like to see this period extended to at least 2 months mainly because I believe that quality of ladder games will be improved by that time. Plus, not everyone can sit in front of PC 3-5 hours a day, constantly playing ladder in order to get in those 4 spots that will qualify him for the play off stage.

Only 4 spots is too less. After week or two it is obvious that few players will climb faster than the others and once they reach the level that rest can't hit they will stop playing. Increasing this to 8 or even 16 spots will give less good players hope and chance that they can qualify so nobody will stop playing.

Undeniable argument for this is that some players have limits. For example there is this great guy and clan w3 member called soptik_rnd who found his limit on level 35. Plus, he needs more time and more games to get it than, for example, me. It should be more fair to less good players so extending the qualifying spots from 4 to 16 would make this event massive and better.

Now I was thinking about what is limit that most players who participate tournaments can reach, normally playing for 2 months. And without doubt that is level 35 which lays on 15000 XP. For many reasons. There should be a rule that players must have more than 15000 XP when this ladder competition ends. And addition that the more XP player has, he will get better seeding in the play off bracket. By applying this rule, we will get a high level ladder that is extremely active.

I sincerely believe that Replayers has the authority to make things better. And by making this event they are proving that their work is focused on community's benefit and not on their own interest. I will surely participate in this great event and I hope that many of you neebs will do the same.

It would be nice to see some if not all suggestions I wrote applied only to extend this event and to make it more fair to less good and less active players.

  3. I don't agree with mist comment above. There is infinite spots available to play this event (Just make an account and go play!) The more motivated of the guys will play to get in playoffs to win it. I believe it has been updated as of today to 8 players in final which is more than enough since there is only 1 winner anyway no matter how many in playoffs. Also it's been increased to 6 weeks. Top post dinko, and love that replayers is making ladder active!!
