WARRIORS OF PIXELS

This article is dedicated to all clans who have weird names and weird members. Thanks for Ljawir, my new KeKo buddy, who inspired me to make this post and clan WoB who recently "died" but short after that, risen to the sky like a mother fucking Phoenix.

It was just and ordinary day in our most popular public channel. Bots were announcing tournaments, leagues and websites that probably wont live up to see the popularity they are aiming for, abusers were searching for appropriate ally to free lose some games and angry peon was whining how he met four Night elf maphackers in a row and how ROC is right now completely dead.

As always, I was staying aside, desperately hoping that some trolls with show up and start their flame wars that will bring the KeKo atmosphere on the next level. Expecting the desired action, one by one, I squelched all spamming bots so their grey messages don't interfere with conversation that is about to happen. Useless efforts from my side because nothing was happening at all.

Then my new KeKo buddy, Ljawir, joined the channel and asked me if I know that some guys remade the clan WoB which got disbanned the day before. Hit with such big packet of new information I managed only to respond with - no, but shortly after that, when I absorbed the info I asked him few questions about the matter that he brought to the discussion.

He continued with the story and history of clan WoB. Apparently, time ago, some maphackers gathered and created a clan called Warriors of Blood - WoB in order to create a private channel in which they would be able to invite other cheaters and to share their experiences. All of that, of course, with intention to put quality of ladder games on the lowest margins.

Obviously, these cheaters, who are also ego maniacs, disbanned their clan. That would be great happy ending, right? But it is not even close to the end.

Just a day after, as my KeKo buddy told me, some other trolls gathered up and guess what they did. They recreated clan WoB. I am not writing smiles in my posts but this really deserves one good old - Xd!

And now I got confused. Why the hell somebody wants to make a clan with the same name the hackers used to create their clan? It can't be because of recognition in public because most of players never heard of clan like WoB. Can't be because they want to attract attention for some clan wars, tournaments or events that they are about to host because the "old" WoB never used to host stuff like that.

And then I realized. It is because of the name. Check it out - Warriors of Blood. Doesn't that sound freaking awesome? There are some clan leaders who tend to make their account names in such fashion to show the rest of the community that they are the chosen ones, dark masters and God knows what else.

Now imagine this picture that I had in mind for clan WoB. Clan WoB members are not really gamers who sit in front of their PC and play games. They are not the players who gather in virtual chat rooms on battle.net where they talk about maps, pixel units and matchmaking system that someone coded for them.

No! They are actually members of old African tribe that was recently discovered by white people from Europe. White man came and gave them computers with wireless connection on which he installed Warcraft III Reign of Chaos so tribe members were able to see the beauties of gaming communities.

So before each RT game they are about to play they make a line in front of the fire or some goat that they are about to sacrifice to the God of Random Team. They are doing this sacrifice or the dance or the prayer in order to get a good Random Team ally, of course. This is how they look while they are doing it.

 If they get bad RT ally they do it again with more goats, prayers and more energy put in the dance. Worth a try, don't you think?

Okay now seriously, why do people give such names to their clans? Killing pixel units that obviously have no blood doesn't make your Warrior of Blood, right? Making Dreadlord as a first hero and picking Sleep as your main spell doesn't make you DreamMaster either, right? Get real dude! Or don't?

The only reason for this I find in the love that people have for fairy tales and their need to be a part of it. There is nothing wrong if people make their virtual life look like a fairy tale in which they become the Warriors of Blood once they log on battle.net.
